Claims

  1. Petals and sepals range from white to deep purple but are usually pink, and the labellum has a green keel and is usually boldly marked with purple.
  2. Flowering occurs from late August through to early November, with different clones flowering earlier or later with minimal overlap.
  3. Dendrobium kingianum grows on rock faces, occasionally on soil or trees, in open forest and woodland from sea level to about 1,200 m, in New South Wales north from the Hunter River and into Queensland.
  4. Stems are erect to spreading, 5-30 cm long and 1.1-2.2 cm in diameter at base, bearing 3-6 narrow-elliptic to narrow-obovate leaves 3-10 cm long and 10-20 mm wide; the inflorescence is 7-15 cm long with 2-15 flowers, dorsal sepal 9-16 mm long.
