Claims

  1. Najem told MERIP that SMEX began after the 2006 war in Lebanon, when he and a journalist partner started using technology to train journalists and later civil society groups; its help desk receives about 60 requests a month, and its annual Bread&Net conference had about 80 sessions in 2023.
