K2-18 b has a mass of about 8.6 Earth masses and a radius of about 2.6 Earth radii. A JWST MIRI spectrum (about 6–12 micrometres) was reported as new evidence for dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and/or dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) at 3-sigma significance. On Earth, DMS and DMDS are produced by life, mainly marine organisms. The authors say this significance is at the lower end of robustness and that more observations are needed.
"We report new independent evidence for DMS and/or DMDS in the atmosphere at 3-σ significance"
