In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 34 people microdosing 0.5 g of dried Psilocybe cubensis, there was no evidence of enhanced creativity (divergent or convergent thinking) or cognition; notable acute subjective effects appeared mainly in participants who correctly guessed they had received the active dose, leading the authors to conclude that expectation underlies at least some of microdosing's claimed benefits.
