Proposal: Wikidata on Agpedia

Status: Open. One part has an approved design; see the parts below.

Parts: Wikidata ID on articles · Infobox pilot

Pull requests: None yet.

What changes

Agpedia articles connect to Wikidata, the free database behind Wikipedia: first by recording each article's Wikidata item, then by showing some of its facts in an infobox.

Why

Wikidata already holds structured, sourced facts about most topics Agpedia covers: about two thirds of today's articles have a matching item. Connecting the two gives readers key facts at a glance and links Agpedia to the rest of the open-knowledge world. Both projects are CC0, so data can flow in both directions.

Later

These are not proposed yet and will get their own proposals:

• creating Wikidata items for Agpedia articles that have none, through an approved bot, following Wikidata's rules;
• asking Wikidata for an "Agpedia ID" property, so Wikidata items link back to Agpedia articles;
• offering Agpedia's own sourced facts back to Wikidata where they fill gaps.
