Proposal: Tables stay tables on phones

No status set yet

Status: Applied (October 2026). This page was written after the change shipped, so that the change has a proposal like every other one.

Pull requests: #81.

What changes

On narrow screens, article tables keep their rows and columns instead of turning into a stack of cards, one per row, with the column name repeated above every cell. Narrow tables fit the screen; wider ones scroll sideways inside their frame.

Why

The card layout turned short tables, such as a two-column timeline, into long lists that were hard to read and compare.

Release note

Tables read as tables on phones
