In January 2006 Tron's parents obtained an interim injunction from the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg against Wikimedia Deutschland barring it from redirecting www.wikipedia.de to the German-language edition of Wikipedia, because the article on Tron gave his full civil name. On February 9, 2006 the same court rejected their application, holding that the family had no claim to injunctive relief because naming him did not violate his personality right extending beyond death. The family appealed and the Landgericht Berlin dismissed the appeal, finding no violation of Tron's postmortem personality right, of his parents' general personality right, or of the informational self-determination of those involved. Wikimedia Deutschland's lawyer Thorsten Feldmann stated that the decision was final and not open to further challenge. Kurt Jansson, then chair of Wikimedia Deutschland, said he hoped the ruling ended both the legal dispute and the public mud-slinging over the naming.
"Die Eltern von Tron hatten im Januar beim Amtsgericht Charlottenburg eine einstweilige Verfügung gegen den Verein Wikimedia Deutschland erwirkt, in der Wikipedia untersagt wurde, von www.wikipedia.de auf die deutschsprachige Ausgabe der freien Enzyklopädie (wikipedia.org) weiterzuleiten [...] Am 9. Februar wies das Amtsgericht Charlottenburg den Antrag der Eltern zurück. Der Familie, so entschied das Amtsgericht, stehe ein solcher Anspruch auf Unterlassung nicht zu, „da durch die Namensnennung dessen über den Tod hinausgehendes Persönlichkeitsrecht nicht verletzt“ werde [...] Dagegen war die Familie in die Berufung gegangen, die nun vom Landgericht Berlin zurückgewiesen wurde."
